USAID/Bolivia contracted GreenCOM, the Environmental Education and Communication (EE&C) Project, to conduct a participatory assessment of EE&C needs and opportunities, develop an overarching EE&C conceptual framework and set of EE&C recommendations and implementation options, and explore how EE&C could be used as a mechanism to help bridge and develop stronger collaboration within USAID/Bolivia and between USAID/Bolivia and its partners. A four-person GreenCOM team conducted the Participatory EE&C Assessment in March-April, 2001. During their three weeks in country (March 18 – April 7, 2001), they reviewed more than 50 USAID, Bolivian, and other donor institutions and projects, and conducted in-depth interviews with nearly 150 people in La Paz, Santa Cruz, Cochabamba, and Tarija. In May, Team Leader, Bette Booth, participated in the USAID Environment Team Partner’s Meeting held in La Paz. During the meeting, Booth presented the draft assessment findings and recommendations to the participants and received feedback and suggestions. These suggestions and recommendations are included in this report.
